Tesla Launches First Showroom in Mumbai: Model Y Booking Now Open in India

India’s first Tesla showroom was inaugurated by Tesla CEO Elon Musk along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on July 15, 2025.

Tesla has been opening its showrooms in various countries but has not opened its showroom in India. Indian YouTuber Madan Gauri had earlier asked on Twitter if they should open their Tesla showroom in India.

In response to that question, he tweeted that he also wanted to open his Tesla showroom in India and that he should pay 100 percent Indian tax on cars imported from the US and consider whether their cars are suitable for use on Indian roads.

The tariff war between India and the US has led to India reducing the duty on cars imported from the US to 25 percent.

Tesla’s car sales have also started to decline due to the dominance of Chinese-made BYD battery cars.

Elon Musk and his music mogul held talks in India regarding his Starlink, and it is possible that talks were held to set up a Tesla showroom in these talks.

Tesla has opened its first showroom in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla complex amid the increasing number of BYD battery car showrooms.

New Tesla showroom opens in India

India’s first Tesla showroom is located on the ground floor of the Megacity Mall in Bandra Kurla complex in Mumbai, on a 5-year lease agreement. This is the first retail center in India.

New Tesla Showroom Details

The Tesla retail showroom in Mumbai has opened its showroom and bookings for two new models.

Tesla has showcased two variants of the Model Y, Rear-wheel drive and Long-Range, and the Model 3 is set to be unveiled soon.

The rear-wheel drive cars are priced at Rs 60 lakh and the long-range cars are priced at Rs 68 lakh.

Bookings: Bookings for these cars will start from July 15, 2025. The cars booked will be delivered by the third quarter of August.

Since India imports 70% of its products from China, the price of Tesla cars will be between Rs 60 lakh and 68 lakh.

The showroom will feature a demo area and fast charging and autopilot OTA updates.

The booked cars will be delivered to you by Kusthi Madha Vakil. Rear wheel driving cars will be delivered first and then long range cars will be delivered.
