There is a news circulating in the media that the Royal Challengers Bangalore team will not participate in the 2026 IPL matches. Let us see here in detail whether this is true or what are the reasons for this. On June 04, 2025, 11 people were killed and 33 were injured in the RCB victory celebration meeting held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The Chief Minister of Karnataka, the leaders of the opposition parties and the Prime Minister expressed their condolences over this. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had announced that a compensation of 10 lakhs would be given to those who died in this event. The news is circulating in the media that due to these stampedes, adequate preparations were not made, proper security and medical arrangements were not provided.

Velu, who was injured in this regard, said that he came to participate in this RCB victory celebration meeting only because it was reported that he was given free tickets, due to which three FIRs were registered against the RCB team.

The Bengaluru Police have registered an FIR against RCB’s event management company DNA Entertainment and the Karnataka State Cricket Association for alleged lack of planning and preparation.

Despite the Bangalore High Court’s order not to take any action against the KSCA, KSCA treasurer ES Jayaram and secretary A Shankar Thamaka resigned on Saturday, June 7, 2025, due to public pressure.

BCCI Secretary Devjitsaika said,

The RCB victory celebration was an initiative of an individual leader and had nothing to do with the team, and the incident was deeply regrettable. The BCCI administration will ensure that such a thing does not happen again, and the BCCI will not be a mere bystander in this case and will take action based on the findings of the investigation.

RCB banned for 2026 IPL

Talking about the news that RCB has been banned from 2026 IPL, he said that punishing a team or an owner can lead to commercial and legal problems. He also said that IPL is the most valuable asset of BCCI.

Banning a team is not new. It is worth noting that Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings were suspended in 2015 after being found guilty of match-fixing.

Now, the BCCI has not imposed any ban on RCB and has said that action will be taken after the investigation is completed.
