Pope Leo XIV inaugurated at the Vatican

Pope Leo XIV was inaugurated as the 267th head of the Catholic Church.

He was given the sacred ring of a fisherman. The ceremony was attended by several world leaders, including US Vice President J.W. Vance and Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Zelensky.
Pope Leo XIV presided over his inauguration Mass in front of St. Peter’s Basilica. It is the beginning of his pontificate.

He said at the ceremony that “we must reject hatred and division and act against the example of exploitation of the earth’s resources and the marginalization of the poor.”
