Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar informed that a new norm will be introduced to limit the temperature to 20 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees Celsius only, according to which it cannot be reduced below 20 degrees Celsius and cannot be increased above 28 degrees Celsius.
At the 11th anniversary meeting of the Democratic Alliance last Tuesday 03 june, 2025, he said that the temperature of ACs, which are feared in India, can now be used only in commercial buildings, homes and offices between 20 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius and that it cannot be increased or decreased. This norm will be implemented soon.
Reason for reducing from 20 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees Celsius
Delhi areas and Delhi residents are facing great difficulty due to heat waves and the India Meteorological Center has issued an orange alert for Delhi areas.
This decision has been taken in view of the increasing temperature of climate change and it is planned to implement it in homes, commercial complexes and vehicles as well.
He also said that this decision has been taken to control the national electricity consumption and reduce energy consumption.
AC 20 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees Celsius
In India, aircoolers will now operate only from 20 degrees to 28 degrees, and the use of this temperature will be monitored.

ACs, which will now operate from 16 degrees to 18 degrees, will be adjusted based on the temperature.
It is noteworthy that although 20 degrees and 21 degrees Celsius were specified in 5-star hotels, a 2020 order was issued stating that 24 degrees Celsius was the minimum limit for cars and ACs.
