Maharashtra School Sparks Outrage: Students Strip-Searched Over Menstrual Blood Incident july 2025

A case of blood stains in a toilet used by students in a school in Maharashtra has caused a stir in the state.

Maharastra : The news broke last Monday. What is the significance of this news? R.S. Damani School is located in Thane Shahpur, near Mumbai, Maharashtra. On the day of the incident, the cleaning staff of this school found blood stains while cleaning the toilet of the students.

This was reported to the school principal. Following this, the students, starting from the fifth grade, called the wives of the tenth grade students and asked the teachers in the school’s toilet who had menstruated.

Not satisfied with this investigation, the teachers asked the students to remove their underwear and test them.

The students informed their parents about this and the parents surrounded the school and launched a campaign.

A child’s parents reported this act and said that instead of giving a proper explanation to the students about menstruation, they are putting pressure on them and said that such acts are unacceptable.

The police were called in as the protest was large and the parents said that the school principal should be arrested.

The police investigated this and a case has been registered under the POCSO Act against the school’s principal, two trustees, 4 teachers and a peon. The peon of that school and the school principal have been arrested.

According to the information received about this act, the school principal has called the wives of the school to the hall and conducted an investigation. If no one agrees, the school’s female peon has taken off the clothes of the students and checked them.

There was blood on the dress of one of the wives. The wife said that she was not menstruating and therefore she scolded the students who were near the school’s front door.

The student, who was upset by this, told her parents, who infuriated her, and filed a police report.

It is deeply regrettable that a very disrespectful teacher would speak to the children in such a way that would cause them distress.
