A Singapore-flagged cargo ship MV Wanhai 503 has been burning for three days in the sea near Veypur near Kozhikode in Kerala. Indian fire brigade personnel have been battling to put out the fire for three days. The fire broke out three days ago.

The Indian Coast Guard has rescued 18 people from the ship after the fire broke out. The Indian Coast Guard is searching for four people who jumped into the sea to escape the fire.

It was reported that the burning ship near Kozhikode was likely to leak 100 metric tons of oil and that the containers on the ship were likely to be washed ashore from Kozhikode to Kochi within three days. Rescue ships have been arranged to tow the burning ship.

Although the ship with 1754 containers was on fire, the ship has not sunk yet due to its weight.

The ship has 671 containers on the top and 1083 containers on the bottom, with a capacity of 2000 tons and 240 tons of diesel.
Although there is a risk of the fire spreading and the ship burning completely, the crew has been struggling to put out the fire on the ship for the past three days. They say that only after the fire is completely extinguished will the damage to the ship be known.

It was reported that it is in danger of exploding. It is also said that the ship is in danger of exploding due to the excess diesel in the ship, as it has been burning in the Kerala region for three consecutive days.
There is a fear that the ship may explode as the chloroform contains sulfate, exam material, diisocyanate, pyridium, and other chemicals.
This is the second accident in the Arabian Sea near Kerala in the last three weeks. It is worth mentioning that the last time the roof was on a cargo ship with a Liberig flag, it was a fuel leak.

This has led to environmental pollution in the area and fishing has been banned due to the mixing of chemicals. It has also affected the livelihood of the people in the area.
