Recently, at the promotion event of the Thuglife film festival held in Chennai, he said that the Kannada language originated from Tamil, and that the mother tongue of Kannada is Tamil.

He also said that only linguistic historians should discuss this language issue, not politicians.

Furthermore, a petition had been filed in the High Court asking whether the film Thuglife, a film by Dhaadhu, would be released on the specified June 6.
