Kabira Bridge Collapse in Gujarat: 13 Dead, Retaining Wall Controversy Sparks Outrage
A major accident occurred on July 9, 2025 at 07:30 AM when the Kabira bridge over the Mahisagar river in Vadodara district of Gujarat collapsed.
It was reported that the bridge collapsed due to lack of maintenance while more than 13 people died in this accident.
In order to fix this weakness, a retaining wall was built to block vehicles from passing through the bridge.
In a situation where the vehicles standing on the bridge were not completely removed, the retaining wall was built without removing the 2 vehicles that were in the rubble on the other side of the bridge.
After learning this, the retaining wall was demolished and the vehicles were taken out and then the snow showing the retaining wall has been resumed.
This action has been widely criticized.
