This railway project is a major component of the Udhampur Srinagar Paramul Railway Project (USBRL). The success of this project is a major achievement in the development of Indian engineering.

The trains running on this railway line are electric trains and all the trains including the Vande Bharat Express have been replaced by diesel locomotives to protect the environment. This project is converting many railway tracks in this area into electric tracks.

Infrastructure Development in Jammu and Kashmir Railway bridge construction begins

The Chenab Rail Bridge Plan The Udhampur Srinagar Paramul project was planned for this project in the 1990s. The foundation of this project began to be laid in 2004. In 2008, the project was stopped due to forest, mountain safety and technical issues.

The project was restarted in 2010 with new safety measures, and the Ekkku Curve project was completed in 2021.

All civil works were completed in 2024.
All the work is complete and the inauguration ceremony is scheduled for June 06, 2025.
Along with this, the Vande Bharat Railway service will also be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
