Govt Schools and Offices Closed on 24 July in Tamil Nadu for Aadi Amavasai – Full Details
On 24th July 2025 (Thursday), the District Collector, Collector Azhug Meena, has announced that all government schools and government offices in Kanyakumari district will remain closed on Thursday, 24th July 2025 on account of Aadi Ammavasai. In lieu of this, Manila government schools and government offices will remain open on 09-08-2025, the second Saturday of August.
According to Hindu tradition, on the day of Aadi Ammavasai, the tradition of giving a tithi to the deceased elders is observed in Tamil Nadu.
In order to remember the deceased, it is customary to throw food and belongings into the river on the nearby riverbank in remembrance of their ancestors.
