DGCA Orders Urgent Fuel Control System of Boeing’s 737,787Checks complete the inspection by July 21
Following the Air India crash, the DGCA has ordered a complete inspection of the fuel control system in all aircraft.
The DGCA has ordered airlines to conduct a complete inspection of the fuel control switch system of Boeing’s 737,787 aircraft and complete the inspection by July 21.

What is this order?
On June 12, 2025, Air India Flight 171 crashed in the Comet region. This tragic incident took place in which 260 people died.
Timeline Of Accident :
On June 13, 2025 at 13:18 IST, the fuel control switch of Air India Flight 171 with 230 passengers and 12 crew members on board, went from RUN to CUTOFF.
Within 3 seconds of takeoff, the fuel control switch for both engines went from RUN to CUTOFF,
which immediately cut off the fuel supply to Engine 1 and 2.
The second pilot asked the first pilot if he had cut off the fuel supply to the engines. The first pilot said that he had not cut off any fuel switch.
The aircraft was flying at an altitude of 625 meters. Suddenly, the plane swerved and crashed into a college hostel near the airport.
Before the plane crashed, a passenger opened the emergency exit door and jumped out with injuries. Apart from that one, a total of 260 people, including 241 adults and college hostel residents and 19 people eating food, were killed and 67 were injured.
Later, when a black interview was conducted regarding this plane crash, it was revealed that the cause of this plane crash was that the control switch that controls the fuel supply to the engines changed from the RUN position to the CUTOFF position when the plane took off, which prevented fuel from flowing to the engines, causing the plane to crash.
Therefore, the DGCA has ordered airlines to conduct a complete inspection of the fuel supply switch system of Boeing’s 737,787 aircraft and complete the inspection by July 21.
