There is a proverb for Murugan that wherever there is a hill, there will be a boy. Similarly, the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple in Thoothukudi is the second of the six houses of Murugan, the place where Suran is worshipped and the party is given to the Guru and the place where Murugan worships Lord Shiva.

After 12 years, the temple premises of this Tiruchendur Murugan Temple were being renovated at an estimated cost of Rs. 300 crore. These works were completed and the Kumbabhishekam of the temple was organized.

The temple administration has announced that this Kumbabhishekam ceremony will be held on Monday, July 07, 2025, between 06:15 am and 06:50 am.

Following this, the Yagya roads are being set up and the puja is being held. This festival has been arranged to observe the Kumbabhishekam ceremony from places like Nazhikinaru Yagashalai and Varanikkamandapam.

In addition, arrangements such as drinking water and toilets have been made at these places.

Since the Kumbabhishekam of the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple is to be held on Monday and most of the people are likely to come, adequate road and pedestrian safety facilities have been arranged.

The special Soorasamkara festival and the Kanda Sashti festival of this temple will be celebrated with great enthusiasm. Also, after the abhishekam, the event of sweating on the face of Murugan will be held.

It is believed by the people that the Nazhikinaru here was created by the body of Murugan.

The administration has also announced that the Kumbabhishekam ceremony will be broadcast on LED screens at more than 70 locations such as the parking lot, the beach, and the temple complex.

Arrangements have also been made to provide food in the car parking area.

6,000 police officers have been deployed for security.
