Bhaiindia’s bike taxi service was launched in Kurukshetra, Haryana in 2015.

This service was started by the founders of MTaxi and BAXI.

Following this, Rapido was launched in 2015, followed by Ola and Uber, of which Rapido bike taxi services are very popular.

This service became very popular, which led to a lot of problems between auto drivers and taxi drivers, following which auto drivers attacked bike taxi drivers and got them caught by RTOs.

However, it was allowed in states like Karnataka, Rajasthan, Coimbatore, Haryana, and West Bengal.

It was not allowed in Delhi and Maharashtra.

Following this, the auto and taxi organizations should not allow such competitions.

Key Timeline – From April 2 to June 16

Following this, on 2 April 2025, a bench headed by Justice B.M. Shyam Prasad Ekka ordered that the bike taxi service should be stopped within six months as there are no organizations using two-wheelers as bike taxis like Ola, Uber, and Rapido under Section 93 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

On 30 April 2025, the government had said that bike taxis should be allowed to operate till June 15 as the law was being amended.

On 27 April 2025, Karnataka Manila Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy told all RTo officials to stop the bike taxi service.

Since the deadline for amending the law related to bike taxis expired on 14 June, the bike taxi service has been banned from 16 June.

Until the law regarding bike taxi services is amended, it is a crime to hitchhike.

They are saying that this service should continue as it is easy to use bike taxis at a low cost and can be easily used in small places. Please share your opinion in the comment section.

Bike taxis should only be used if you have the following information:
